Originally uploaded by Hexhead. Vermont flowers are the best. The growing season is so short in Vermont. All the more reason to appreciate the flowers in spring, summer and fall.

Flower of the Month – Aster

  Asters are the birth flower for September. The genus Aster includes some 600 species of flowering plants. Aster comes from the Greek word for star and refers to the shape of the flower head. Many species and a variety of hybrids are popular as garden plants.

New plants for my garden

I saw beautiful daylilies in Vermont this summer and I bought some for my garden here in Florida as a reminder of VT
